Overview
Start your unseen Thailand New Year trip for solo women in the peaceful hills of Chiang Mai. Been missing those Thai foot massages? Don’t worry — we’re heading back! This time to offbeat Thailand, where the cities may be different but the massage technique… still heavenly (and addictive, haha).
After curating over ten soulful journeys across Thailand, this marks our 11th visit in 10 years — and there’s a reason we keep coming back. The smiles, the slowness, the spirit — it all feels like home. And for this special New Year edition, we’re headed north to the soulful pockets of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, where mountains meet temples, and time moves differently.
This experience isn’t just curated — it’s crafted by Nida, our trusted local travel partner from Phuket who knows exactly what Jugnis look forward to. From understanding our need for comfort and safety to sensing when the group needs a sunset tea break or a spontaneous giggle, she’s a quiet magician behind the scenes. Nida has handpicked our stays at Mercure Chiang Mai and Vista Grand Chiang Rai — serene, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches that make all the difference after a day of exploration.
Whether you’re painting umbrellas in a hill village, sipping tea on a foggy plantation, or floating gently through the Golden Triangle, you’ll feel the rhythm slow down — and your heart open up. And on New Year’s Eve, as you plant your feet in the earth and release a lantern into the sky, you’ll feel the kind of calm that lasts far beyond the trip. Want to know more about the magical Lantern Festival we attend on New Year’s Eve? Click here for official details.
Come solo or with a friend — either way, you’ll return with new stories, a clearer heart, and the joy of starting 2026 the Jugni way.

Itinerary

Arrive in Chiang Rai
Welcome to South East Asia! The moment you step out, the warmth wraps around you — this isn’t just weather, it’s welcome. We transfer to Chiang Rai and head straight to the White Temple (Wat RongKhun), a surreal, glittering masterpiece unlike any temple you’ve ever seen. Then, the Blue Temple — where the indigo walls feel like stepping inside a dream. Tonight, Chiang Rai is yours to explore at your own pace.
Accommodation: The Heritage, Chiang Rai or similar class
-
Explore Chiang Rai
We visit the Long Neck Village, where the Karen women carry generations of tradition around their necks — a humbling, moving encounter. Then up to the Chui Fong Tea Plantation, where the mist rolls between rows of green and the view stops time. We end the day at Doi Tung, the royal mountain project that turned barren hills into gardens. Lunch is together, conversations are easy, and the afternoon light on the hills is something you’ll photograph fifty times.
Accommodation: The Heritage, Chiang Rai or similar class
-
Black House
We start with the Latita Café — a magical garden café that looks like it came out of a fairytale. Then the Black House (Baan Dam), the dark counterpart to the White Temple — raw, bold, unforgettable. In the afternoon, the Golden Triangle: where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet at the Mekong River. We take a boat cruise out onto the water, watching the landscape shift. It’s one of those afternoons that feels almost cinematic.
Accommodation: The Heritage, Chiang Rai or similar class
-
Umbrella Painting Workshop
We check out of Chiang Rai with full hearts and head towards Chiang Mai — but not directly. First, the Mae Kha Chan Hot Spring, where natural mineral pools sit in lush greenery and the water is exactly as warm as it needs to be. Then Sankampang, where we do an umbrella painting workshop — you’ll leave with a handmade keepsake and paint on your fingers. We reach Chiang Mai just in time for Doi Suthep at sunset, where monks begin their evening chanting as the sky turns gold. Nothing else quite compares.
Accommodation: At Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai or similar class
-
New Year’s Eve in Chiang Mai
This is the day everything was building to. We start with a half-day city tour — Wat Phra Singh, the stunning Silver Temple Sri Suphan, and the buzzing Warorot Market, where you’ll taste, touch, and bargain for things you didn’t know you needed. Lunch is together, and then free time to rest, shop, or simply sit with a Thai iced tea and watch the city prepare.
Accommodation: At Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai or similar class
-
Day out with Elephants
The Elephant Safari is one of those experiences that women on our trips still talk about years later. You’ll watch the elephant show, go for a ride through the jungle, and float gently on bamboo rafts down the river — the trees above you, the water below, the world very far away. In the afternoon, we visit Wat Ban Den, a magnificent temple complex that’s less crowded and more serene than most — exactly the kind of hidden gem Jugni loves to find. Tonight is your last in Thailand. Make it count.
Accommodation: At Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai or similar class

Group transfer to Chiang Mai Airport
Check out and head to the airport — but you’re not quite the same person who arrived. You carry lantern smoke in your hair, temple bells in your memory, and a group of women in your heart who made every moment feel like it was meant to be shared.

- Discover the world of women's travel with Jugni, an innovative travel company for women in India. Since 2014, we have organised trips for solo female travellers who want to explore the world. We carefully plan unforgettable trips within India and abroad.
- What are solo travel groups?
- Solo travel groups comprise solo adventurers looking to explore a destination together. They offer a safety net and take the stress out of planning the trip and finding a place to stay.
- What is the typical group size?
- We keep our group sizes deliberately small, typically comprising 12-14 travellers, allowing us to deliver personalised and attentive service to each of our solo women travellers. Our groups may expand to 18-20 travellers in destinations with longstanding expertise.
- Is there any age bar?
- Age is no barrier to joining our adventurous Jugni family. Whether you're 22 or 60, your spirit is all that matters. Come and explore with us!
- I've never travelled alone, and I'm feeling a little anxious. Will I be able to do it?
- Feeling nervous before your trip is normal as a first-time solo woman traveller. But we are here to calm your nerves and assure you this will be a truly transformative experience where you'll build lifelong friendships.
- How do we ensure safety and security for our solo women travellers?
- As a company, we deeply understand the importance of safety for female travellers. That's why we take every possible measure to ensure our trips offer a safe and secure experience. We personally conduct background checks on every agent involved and visit each hotel to ensure your peace of mind.
- How are the group dynamics on trips?
- Our travellers often journey alone, although some come with female friends. Our accommodations are based on double occupancy unless otherwise requested, and we assign roommates at random to help solo travellers start forming connections from the beginning.
- Are visa fees and flights inclusive?
- Due to the diverse origins of our travellers, it is not feasible for us to include flights and visas. Nevertheless, we offer complete assistance with flight bookings and visa forms at no additional cost. For your understanding, all the rest of the inclusions and exclusions are mentioned explicitly in the itinerary.
- What type of accommodations can we expect to stay in?
- We put a lot of effort into handpicking our accommodations, either conveniently located 4-star hotels or cosy boutique stays. In more rural or remote areas, we love arranging authentic regional homestays to immerse you in the local experience. Just remember that some amenities may not be available at these homestays because of their remote locations.
- Can we arrange a single occupancy room?
- As a standard practice, we provide twin-sharing accommodation, allowing solo travellers to connect with the group. However, we can arrange for single occupancy upon special request and an additional charge.
- Is it okay if I bring my child with me?
- We welcome children over 12 years on our trips, and their trip cost equals that of adult travellers. The final decision is made after careful consideration, including location and trip type.
- Can I trust Jugni as a women-only travel company?
- For nearly a decade, Jugni has been a long-standing champion of solo women's travel and believes in empowering them to explore the world. With a perfect 5/5 Facebook rating and an impressive 4.9/5 Google rating from over 800 reviews, our commitment to transparency and no hidden costs ensures your peace of mind.
