🌸 Throwback: My First Solo Trip with Jugni to Kotgarh, Himachal Pradesh
A Memory from 8 Years Ago
Every journey has a beginning. For Divya, now based in London, that beginning was a Jugni trip to Kotgarh almost 8 years ago. She had penned down her memories on Tripoto, and her words beautifully capture the magic of joining a women-only group travel experience for the very first time.
This is her story.
Taking the First Step with Jugni
“The thought of travelling with a complete group of strangers was a little daunting at first… but then what is life without experiencing new things?”
Divya landed from Bangalore to Delhi, heart full of excitement and just a little fear. She was the first to arrive at the meeting point (ISBT Kashmiri Gate), waiting for her fellow Jugnis to join. Soon enough, the group began to assemble — and with it, the first sparks of friendship.
She recalls meeting Rohit, the planner behind Jugni’s blueprints, and then, of course, the arrival of Nitesh. As Divya writes, Nitesh is “the most talked-about person in almost all Jugni testimonials” — the ice-breaker, humour-quotient, and multi-faceted personality who makes every traveller feel at home.
The Journey to Kotgarh
The bus rolled out of Delhi, with the last pit stop at the iconic Amrik Sukhdev dhaba. Because of snowfall, the road ahead was blocked, but what could have been a delay turned into a blessing — the bus took the longer route, winding through the scenic beauty of the mountains.
Divya describes Kotgarh as “a place where time is befriended, purity unrivalled, and silence revered.” Surrounded by shades of green that would inspire any painter, the group arrived to a light rainfall that couldn’t dampen their spirits.
Snowfall, Sunshine & Serendipity
Day two brought the magic everyone had been waiting for — snowfall. Divya remembers it like being transported straight to a Yash Raj movie set, a first-time experience etched forever in memory.
And as if nature wanted to gift the group a perfect ending, day three brought sunshine and warmth just as they were preparing to leave Kotgarh. The trip closed with live music at Café Simla Times, a fitting finale to a soulful journey.
Why This Trip Mattered
For Divya, this was more than just a getaway. It was her first time travelling solo with an all women travel group — stepping into the unknown, and finding comfort, safety, and joy among strangers who quickly became friends.
She summed it up perfectly: “Travelling enriches our experience, fills the soul with gratitude, and gives us a different perspective on life. With Jugni, it’s the cherry on top.”
Jugni Then & Now
Eight years later, Jugni continues to create the same magic — safe, soulful, and unforgettable journeys for women. From Kotgarh in Himachal to Cappadocia in Turkey, the spirit remains unchanged: strangers become sisters, trips become stories, and stories become traditions.
Whether you call it women-only group travel, solo female travel groups, or simply ladies-only trips, Jugni has been one of India’s trusted companions for women travellers since 2014.
